WeWork India is set to significantly increase its presence with two new centres planned for Pune and Chennai, adding roughly 200,000 square feet to its existing portfolio. Both locations are scheduled to open in the latter half of 2025, according to Business Standard.Â
The new Chennai centre will mark WeWork’s third facility in the city since entering the market just over a year ago. Situated in the Littlewood Tower on Old Mahabalipuram Road, a key IT corridor, the centre will cover around 150,000 square feet over three floors. It is designed to meet growing demand for flexible office space among technology companies in the region.
In Pune, WeWork will launch its first centre in the city with a 60,000 square foot facility located in Kharadi. Spread across two floors, the space will offer around 1,000 desks and is positioned near important commercial hubs and transportation links, including the Ramwadi Metro Station and Pune International Airport.
These expansions reflect WeWork India’s ongoing growth across multiple cities. Since its launch in 2017, the company has established 68 centres in eight cities, including major markets like Mumbai, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad. The company recently secured ₹500 crore (over $58 million USD) in funding to support further growth and reduce debt, although its planned IPO is currently on hold.
The flexible workspace sector in India is expected to grow exponentially, with industry reports projecting an annual growth rate of around 18%-19% through 2027. This trend is driven by increasing demand for adaptable office environments in Tier 1 cities, positioning WeWork’s expansion well within a growing market.
